Safari Overview

Marangu Route

The Marangu Route is the oldest and most established path on Mount Kilimanjaro. It is the only route that offers hut accommodation instead of camping, covering about 82 kilometers round trip. The trail has a gradual ascent, but limited acclimatization time makes altitude sickness a major challenge. Climbers typically choose between a 5-day or 6-day itinerary, with success rates of about 30 percent and 50 percent respectively. The route is less scenic than others because the ascent and descent follow the same path, yet it remains the most crowded due to its perceived comfort and familiarity.
